Schneider Electric’s new Magelis XBT-GT High Resolution HMIs are available in 5.7” and 10.4” screens. The VGA/SVGA TFT 65K colour HMIs display complex graphics and functions for industrial and commercial machine control applications.

These high performance HMIs feature a 266 MHz processor and 32 MB memory. Embedded Ethernet connectivity and a web gate/server facitilitate remote control and diagnostics. Two USB ports make it easy to download applications and connect to peripherals such as printers and barcode readers. A mini-jack connector allows audio output.

ABB to Acquire Thomas & Betts for $3.9 Billion

January 30, 2012

ABB, a leading power and automation technology group, and Thomas & Betts Corporation, a North American leader in low voltage products, announced that both companies’ boards of directors have agreed to a transaction in which ABB will acquire Thomas & Betts for $72 per share in cash or approximately $3.9 billion.

The acquisition price represents a 24 percent premium to Thomas & Betts’ closing stock price on Jan. 27, 2012 and a 35 percent premium to the volume weighted average stock price over the past 60 trading days. The transaction is subject to approval by Thomas & Betts shareholders as well as to customary regulatory approvals, and is expected to close by the middle of 2012.

Siemens Announces Agreement to Acquire Canadian Network Supplier RuggedCom Inc.

Siemens has entered into an agreement with RuggedCom Inc. to acquire all of the issued and outstanding common shares of RuggedCom by way of a friendly, board-supported takeover bid. The Canadian company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange is a leading provider of communications and networking solutions for harsh industrial environments. The takeover bid is for C$33.00 per common share in cash, or a total transaction value of approximately C$382 million. RuggedCom's Board of Directors has unanimously determined to support, and to recommend that RuggedCom's shareholders accept the offer. Subject to the satisfaction or waiver of certain limited conditions, Siemens expects to take up shares under the offer in the second half of March 2012.

Ballard Signs MOU With Tata Motors To Power Clean Fuel Cell Bus Demonstrations In India

Ballard Power Systems has announced signing of a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Tata Motors (India) for 12 FCvelocity™-1100 fuel cell stacks. These stacks are expected to power zero-emission buses planned for demonstration in various Indian cities. Delivery to Tata Motors is planned for 2012 and 2013, in-line with that Company's plans.
