    Schneider Electric Appoints Hugo Lafontaine as National Sales Manager, Building Automation Systems, Canada

    SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC, the global specialist in energy management and automation, announced the appointment of Hugo Lafontaine as National Sales Manager, Building Automation Systems in Canada.

    In his role, Hugo will be responsible for building on Schneider Electric’s reputation as a recognized authority and leader in efficient buildings in the Canadian market. He will be based in Ottawa.

    Hugo brings more than 15 years of experience and knowledge in building control systems to his new position. Previously he was Sales Director at Regulvar Canada Inc. At Regulvar, he established a track record for growing the company’s business in the Quebec and Ottawa region. Prior to that, he held several progressively senior positions at Regulvar.

    “Hugo has displayed an ability to manage and grow market share in the Canadian building automation systems market,” said Adrian Thomas, Vice President, Partner Business & Channel with Schneider Electric. “We are pleased to have him as part of our team and anticipate he will enhance Schneider Electric’s reputation as the market leader in efficient buildings.”

    Hugo has a Bachelor of Engineering degree with a specialization in management from the University of Ottawa and an Executive MBA from the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa. He has been a member of Professional Engineers Ontario since 2006.

    Fulham Co., Inc., a leading supplier of lighting components and electronics for commercial and specialty applications, has joined the Continental Automated Building Association (CABA), a global not-for-profit group dedicated to the advancement of connected home and intelligent building technology. Fulham has been developing standalone intelligent lighting management systems to supplement the company’s comprehensive line of LED lighting products.

    With the water battery, Max Bögl Wind AG has developed a completely new large-scale storage facility, which sets new standards in a technologically innovative way. For the first time, the production of power from renewable energies, such as from a wind or solar farm or from biomass, will be combined with a modern pumped-storage power plant. The water battery can store surplus power from the grid and the energy can bereused as required. It acts as a short-term storage facility and contributes to maintaining stability of the grid, as well as guaranteeing continuous, uninterrupted supply.

    John has had a long and illuminating Electrical industry career spanning over 37 years. His journey started after graduating from U. of Manitoba and joining Sylvania Lighting in a Sales and Marketing role in Calgary and Edmonton.

    Nora Lighting expands its low profile, surface-mounted Opal LED Series with the new AC Opal. The AC Opal does not require a driver and mounts easily over a standard J-Box, even pancake-type fixture boxes in retrofits or new construction.

    AC Opal measures just 7/8” deep by 7 ¼” wide. The low profile is ideal for bathrooms, laundries, utility areas, pantries, closets, showers and more. The fixture is dimmable and produces even illumination with 1050 lumen (15W) at 90+CRI.  A white polymer lens diffuser eliminates LED diode images.

    The family of Push-in CAGE CLAMP® PCB Terminal Block complete the roll out of the new additions to WAGO solutions. This new family is composed of three series (2624, 2626, 2636) offering streamlined, compact connections for all wire types. Solid and ferruled wires can be directly pushed in for connection, while tool-actuated termination is available parallel to the conductor entry for stranded wire and for the release of all wire types. These PCB terminal blocks are perfect for panel feed through applications because operation and wire entry are from the same plane.

    Real estate in industrial and factory buildings is nearly always at a premium, so instead of using expensive space unnecessarily, Hammond Manufacturing offers a range of three sizes of fold down shelves. FDS Series shelves can be mounted either to the internal or external surface of the door or to the side of a cabinet. The shelves, rated at 100 lbs capacity, lock solidly up into the horizontal position when required and then fold down out of the way to save floor space when they are not needed.
