      April 22, 2015 – The Electrical Safety Authority is notifying the public that GE Lighting has announced a voluntary corrective action program for the following product.

      Name of Product: High-intensity LED Lamps

      Units: 4,031 units sold in Canada.

      Manufacturer: GE Lighting

      Hazard: The lamp can separate from its base and fall posing an impact hazard to persons below.

    • September 07, 2015

      September 8, 2015 – CPSC, Health Canada and Technical Consumer Products announced the recall of 24,400 LED down lights for recesed cans. (6,200 in Canada) The recall indicates that the internal wiring in the LED down lights can contact the down light’s metal trim, posing a shock hazard to consumers. Technical Consumer Products has not received any reports of injuries.

    • July 14, 2015

      July 15, 2015 – This voluntary recall involves certain fluorescent light fixtures sold under the Metalux and Utilitech brands. The affected products are UL certified with certification file number E75170.

    • March 15, 2015

      March 16, 2015 - The following is a notification from UL that the communications cables identified below may pose a fire hazard. The communications cables do not comply with UL’s safety standards and are not authorized to bear the UL Mark for the United States or Canada.

      Hazard: The communications cables do not meet the flammability requirements of the standard which may cause an increased risk of fire.
