March 5, 2012 – The Electrical Safety Authority is notifying the public that Canadian Tire Corporation, Limited has announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately.
Name of Product: Blue Planet Soft White Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) Bulbs.
Units: An estimated 26,960 units are affected.
Distributor: Shanghai Light Industries.
Importer: Canadian Tire Corporation, Limited.
Hazard: It has been determined that the identified CFL Bulbs are not authorized to bear the CUL marking.
Incidents/Injuries: Canadian Tire has not received any reports of incidents or injuries regarding the use of this product.
Description/Models: This recall involves the Blue Planet Soft White Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) bulbs, identified by product # 52-5120, 52-5121, 52-5124, 52-5128 and 52-5510 that also bear an Underwriters Laboratories (UL) listing of E320329 with a control number of 7G86. The product number, CUL listing and control number can be found on the base of the bulb.

When was distributed: September 2010 – December 2011.
Manufactured in: China.
Remedy: Customers are asked to discontinue using the affected Blue Planet Soft White CFL Bulbs and return the product to any Canadian Tire store for a refund.
