Emergi-Lite Launches New Website for Canada

The new Emergi-Lite Canada website makes it easier than ever for users to find information about Emergi-Lite emergency lighting equipment. To help visitors quickly find the right products for their installation, the website redesign includes institutional, industrial, commercial, and hospitality sector links on the home page that provide an overview of products of interest for each application.

Each product category link takes the user to a new overview page with thumbnail images and descriptions to help quickly compare and identify products. The redesigned product pages now include a colour image and online description plus a link to download the product’s catalogue page and instruction sheet. With the new instruction sheet link, installation and maintenance information is now accessible online.

Users looking for information about the Nexus® emergency lighting monitoring system will be pleased to see that Nexus has a category link in the website navigation, and all Nexus-compatible products are clearly identified.

An Upcoming Events sidebar keeps visitors informed of trade shows and conferences where Emergi-Lite products will be shown. New Emergi-Lite products are featured in the What’s New section with a new overview page of thumbnail images and descriptions linking to the individual product pages.

The user-friendly Emergi-Lite website redesign includes navigation bars accessible from every page, a site map, and a keyword search, making it easy for users to browse through the site and to find what they’re looking for in as few clicks as possible. The latest Emergi-Lite product literature, including catalogues, manuals, and flyers, can be downloaded from the Literature page. Frequently asked questions are answered on the new FAQ page, and the Contact Us page now shows all contact information in one place with an easy-to-use online form that allows users to contact Emergi-Lite faster than before.

Every page in the new website is now printer-friendly and includes a print icon. An e-mail icon allows the user to easily forward a link to a specific page with a personal message, or to contact Emergi-Lite.

Company information is now included with links to Emergi-Lite websites for the United States and United Kingdom, and other Thomas & Betts brands worldwide.

ABB to Acquire Thomas & Betts for $3.9 Billion

ABB, a leading power and automation technology group, and Thomas & Betts Corporation, a North American leader in low voltage products, announced that both companies’ boards of directors have agreed to a transaction in which ABB will acquire Thomas & Betts for $72 per share in cash or approximately $3.9 billion.

The acquisition price represents a 24 percent premium to Thomas & Betts’ closing stock price on Jan. 27, 2012 and a 35 percent premium to the volume weighted average stock price over the past 60 trading days. The transaction is subject to approval by Thomas & Betts shareholders as well as to customary regulatory approvals, and is expected to close by the middle of 2012.

Siemens Announces Agreement to Acquire Canadian Network Supplier RuggedCom Inc.

Siemens has entered into an agreement with RuggedCom Inc. to acquire all of the issued and outstanding common shares of RuggedCom by way of a friendly, board-supported takeover bid. The Canadian company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange is a leading provider of communications and networking solutions for harsh industrial environments. The takeover bid is for C$33.00 per common share in cash, or a total transaction value of approximately C$382 million. RuggedCom's Board of Directors has unanimously determined to support, and to recommend that RuggedCom's shareholders accept the offer. Subject to the satisfaction or waiver of certain limited conditions, Siemens expects to take up shares under the offer in the second half of March 2012.

Ballard Signs MOU With Tata Motors To Power Clean Fuel Cell Bus Demonstrations In India

Ballard Power Systems has announced signing of a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Tata Motors (India) for 12 FCvelocity™-1100 fuel cell stacks. These stacks are expected to power zero-emission buses planned for demonstration in various Indian cities. Delivery to Tata Motors is planned for 2012 and 2013, in-line with that Company's plans.
