      FLO, the largest electric vehicle (EV) charging network in Canada, is going live with the first of its 25 Canadian Tire Gas+ EV charging stations scheduled to open this year in Ontario. The commissioning of the Milton, Ontario location is part of a partnership with Canadian Tire announced in December that will see FLO fast chargers deployed across key transit corridors across Southern Ontario. The project is made possible by the financial support of Natural Resources Canada and Nissan Canada.

      The American Medical Association's (AMA's) warnings about too much "blue light" at night are seriously flawed: The AMA developed them using a measuring tool that does not measure the specific kind of "blue light" the AMA is concerned about. Nonetheless, according to speakers at the National Lighting Bureau's Annual Lighting Forum, some jurisdictions and public-transportation departments nationwide believe, mistakenly, that they will reduce human-health risks by adopting the AMA's recommendations.

    Innergex Renewable Energy Inc. has begun commercial operation of the 81.4 MW Upper Lillooet River run-of-river hydroelectric facility located in British Columbia. Innergex owns a 66.7% interest in the hydro facility and Ledcor Power Group Ltd. owns the remaining 33.3%.

    ONTARIO ENERGY NETWORK (OEN) Chair, Grant Buchanan, announces that John Loucks will join the Association in the role of the new President of the OEN, effective April 1, 2017. After a period of transition, John will also assume the title of CEO of the Association.

    John has more than 30 years in the energy sector, beginning his career in engineering, conservation and technical service positions, first at the City of Calgary (now ENMAX) and then at Brampton Hydro. Loucks joined Napanee Public Utilities Commission as CEO (General Manager), then assumed the same position with Nanticoke Hydro-Electric Commission. Following that, John joined Brantford Power as Chief Operating Officer.

    STELPRO announced the appointment of Christopher Balleine as Sales Representative, Maritimes, responsible for the province of Nova Scotia, effective March 20, 2017. Christopher will assume his new role under the immediate supervision of John-Daniel Chabot, Director, Sales – Electrical – ATL./ONT./WEST.
