      Brookfield Renewable Power Inc. today announced that it has been selected for a 40-year Electricity Purchase Agreement (EPA) for its Kokish River Hydroelectric Project located on the northeast coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia. This EPA is a result of the BC Hydro 2008 Clean Power Call seeking new, renewable and cost-effective energy projects.

      The Kokish River Hydroelectric Project is being developed by Kwagis Power, a limited partnership of the 'Namgis First Nation and Brookfield Renewable Power. The 45 megawatt run-of-river project is expected to generate approximately 185 gigawatt hours of clean, renewable energy annually - enough electricity to power approximately 15,000 homes - while providing significant local benefits.       BC Hydro announced today that Capital Power Corporation's ("Capital Power," or "the Company") (TSX: CPX) Quality Wind Project ("Quality Wind," or "the project") has been selected for the award of an Energy Purchase Agreement ("EPA").

      The 142-megawatt (MW) wind power project would be located in northeastern British Columbia, and developed by an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Capital Power. The project has an expected cost of $455 million.

      Clean, renewable energy generated by Quality Wind would be sold under a 25-year EPA with BC Hydro. Commercial operation is expected to commence no later than the spring of 2013.

      Innergex Renewable Energy Inc. (TSX: INE) ("Innergex" or "the Corporation") is pleased to announce that it has been selected by the British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority ("BC Hydro") for a power purchase agreements ("PPA") award for three run-of-river hydro projects submitted in response to the BC Hydro's 2008 Clean Power Call.

      Only 8 percent of utilities around the world have completed their smart grid technology implementations while 37 percent have projects underway and more than half haven't yet started, according to a new Microsoft Corp. survey.

      The Microsoft Worldwide Utility Industry Survey 2010, released today at CERAWeek 2010 in Houston, surveyed almost 200 professionals within electric, gas and water utilities and related companies around the world.
